IPL 2025: Know RCB squad, captain, and vice-captain

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are gearing up for the IPL 2025 season with a well-balanced squad featuring a mix of experienced stars and emerging talents. Despite their passionate fanbase and several strong campaigns in the past, RCB is still in search of their maiden IPL title.

With the tournament approaching, one major talking point is the absence of an officially declared captain and vice-captain. While Virat Kohli remains the face of the franchise, RCB has confirmed that young Rajat Patidar will lead the franchise in IPL 2025

RCB has managed to pile up a strong squad

RCB’s batting department boasts some of the most dangerous players in T20 cricket. Virat Kohli, the backbone of the team’s top order, will once again be the key to their batting success. Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal provide solid support, both being capable of accelerating the innings and playing match-winning knocks. Swastik Chhikara, an emerging talent, adds further depth to the batting lineup.

In the wicketkeeping department, Phil Salt and Jitesh Sharma bring explosive batting skills. Salt, known for his aggressive stroke play, will be a key player in the powerplay, while Jitesh provides stability and finishing prowess in the lower middle order. Their inclusion ensures RCB has multiple options behind the stumps and in their batting approach.

A strong group of all-rounders adds balance to RCB’s squad. Liam Livingstone, one of the most destructive hitters in the game, also brings value with his off-spin. Krunal Pandya, a seasoned left-arm spinner, contributes with both bat and ball, offering experience and control. 

Tim David and Romario Shepherd provide additional firepower, capable of finishing games with the bat and delivering useful overs when needed. Manoj Bhandage, Swapnil Singh, and Jacob Bethell add further versatility, giving RCB plenty of all-round options.

The bowling attack features a mix of international stars and promising young talents. Josh Hazlewood leads the pace attack, supported by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swing and Lungi Ngidi’s pace and bounce. Nuwan Thushara, Yash Dayal, and Rasikh Dar add further pace options, while Abhinandan Singh is an exciting prospect for the future.

RCB’s spin department is spearheaded by Suyash Sharma and Mohit Rathee, both of whom can deceive batters with their variations. With a strong squad but an undecided leadership, RCB will be eager to finalize their captain and vice-captain before heading into IPL 2025.
