Lucknow Super Giants have built a strong squad for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have named Rishabh Pant as their captain after buying him for a staggering amount of Rs 27 crore in the mega auction. The franchise had retained five players - Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan - ahead of the auction.

Among the batters, David Miller and Aiden Markram are two of the batters picked by the franchise at the auction. Both players are from South Africa and exceptional with the bat playing different roles for different teams in other T20 leagues.
Among all-rounders, Mitchell Marsh is doubtful for IPL due to injury while Abdul Samad, Arshin Kulkarni and Shahbaz Ahmed are some of the other picks in the team. Apart from captain Pant and Pooran, Matthew Breetzke is another notable wicketkeeping option for them. Breetzke recorded the highest score on ODI debut recently for South Africa.
The bowling attack of LSG is extremely strong with the franchise securing the services of Akash Deep, Shamar Joseph, Avesh Khan. The presence of Bishnoi, Mayank and Mohsin makes the attack look absolutely strong for LSG.
After Pant, Avesh, Akash Deep and Miller were their top three most expensive picks at the mega auction. Among retained players, Pooran was most expensive for them as the franchise shelled out a massive amount of Rs 21 crore. After him, Mayank Yadav and Bishnoi will get Rs 11 crore this season in IPL 2025 from the franchise.
Badoni and Mohsin were the two uncapped retentions of LSG ahead of the auction as the duo will get Rs 4 crore each in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
