IPL 2025: Know GT squad, captain and vice-captain

Gujarat Titans will be looking to bounce back from a disastrous 2024 campaign as they enter the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 with high hopes and a new squad. The Titans finished the last season in the bottom half of the points table after making the finals of the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Shubman Gill replaced Hardik Pandya as a captain in 2024 but the star Indian batter struggled with his new role which also affected his performances with a bat. The Ahmedabad-based franchise retained Gill for Rs 16.50 crore, the star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan for Rs 18 crore and last season’s leading run-getter Sai Sudharsan.

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, the Titans spent big to sign England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler to replace the retired wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha. But the fans were more pleased to see the franchise reinforcing a world-class pace attack to replace released stars Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma.

The Titans signed Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gerald Coetzee and Ishant Sharma to boast the strongest pace attack for the 2025 season. Gujarat also spent smartly to sign quality spin all-rounders Manav Suthar, Washington Sundar and Sai Kishore. Gujarat also made a late bid to sign the Kiwis’ versatile all-rounder Glenn Phillips who might prove a steal buy by the franchise.

The young Indian rising stars Nishant Sindhu, Mahipal Lomror, Kumar Kushagra and Anuj Rawat are also expected to get some action as Gujarat enter the IPL 2025 with a balanced squad.

Shubman Gill is all but confirmed to lead the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 once again. Rashid Khan, who recently led MI Cape Town to the SA20 2025 title, is likely to deputize Gill in the consecutive season. Buttler’s arrival also boasts the Titan’s leadership options.
