The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, the world’s most celebrated T20 League is here. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its schedule for IPL 2025, stirring up joy for the fans not just in India but across the globe.
The 18th edition of the IPL will include 74 matches spread across 65 days at 13 different venues. The dates of the league stage are March 22–May 18. The playoffs are scheduled for May 20–25.
With 14 points from 14 games, the Delhi Capitals finished sixth in the points standings last season after displaying potential in spurts but faltering at key times.
With the acquisition of Australian pace leader Mitchell Starc and batting dynamo KL Rahul, Delhi hopes to turn things around this time. Starc joined the team for Rs 11.75 crore, while Rahul was purchased for Rs 14 crore.
Two of the Delhi Capitals' seven home games in the 2025 Indian Premier League will take place in Visakhapatnam during the first week of play against Lucknow and Hyderabad on March 24 and 30 respectively.
Although DC's first two games of the season will be played in the Andhra Pradesh city, on April 5 they will play their first away game against the Chennai Super Kings at their home field.
Next, they play against Bengaluru in Bengaluru on April 10. From April 13 onward, the action will move back to Delhi's legendary Arun Jaitley Stadium, the longtime home ground of the Delhi Capitals starting with the game against Mumbai Indians.
Capitals would be facing Rajasthan Royals on April 16 in another home game before moving to Ahmedabad to face Gujarat Titans on April 19 which is a day game. Then they move to Lucknow to clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 22.
Capitals would then be returning to Delhi to feature in home games against Bengaluru and Kolkata on April 27 and 29 respectively. Sunrisers would feature in their list then with whom they play against on May 5 in Hyderabad. Dharamsala would be waiting for the clash between Delhi and Punjab for the match on May 8.
The last two league matches for Delhi, which also are their last home and away matches would be played against Gujarat and Mumbai on May 11 and 15 respectively.
