IPL 2025: Date of final reportedly changed, franchises asked to assemble players

The IPL 2025 is currently suspended for a week by the BCCI due to the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. However, according to a report in The Indian Express, the tournament is set to be extended to 30 May when it resumes after the suspension. Initially, the final was scheduled for 25 May, but now it is likely to be held on 30 May.

The tournament is expected to resume on 16 May, with three venues reportedly selected for the remaining matches: Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. While the updated schedule is yet to be officially released, a major concern for many franchises is the availability of their overseas players, many of whom have already left the country due to the current situation.

The BCCI has reportedly asked all franchises to report to their respective venues by 13 May so that preparations can begin for the tournament’s resumption. “All franchises have been told to inform their teams to report to their respective destinations by Tuesday,” a source in the Indian board confirmed.

“As the IPL was suspended for a week, there is a possibility of the IPL final now being played on May 30 instead of May 25, with limited venues. The schedule will be sent to all IPL teams by tonight,” the source further added.

“We will have to consult with the government” - IPL chairman Arun Dhumal on resuming the IPL 2025

In an exclusive interaction with The Indian Express, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stated that they are looking at the possibility of resuming the suspended IPL “immediately” after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on Saturday.

“Ceasefire has just been announced. We now explore the possibility of resuming and concluding the IPL. If it is possible to conduct it immediately… We need to work out the venue dates and everything, and we would now be speaking to all the stakeholders, including team owners, broadcasters, and everyone involved, and find a way as to how to move forward. Most importantly, we will have to consult with the government,” Dhumal said.
