IPL 2025: BCCI announces schedule and venues for playoffs

On Tuesday, May 20, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule and venues for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Playoffs. After entertaining the audience with 70 league matches, IPL 2025 will move ahead to the playoffs from May 29, Thursday.

New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host the much-anticipated Qualifier 1 - featuring the top two-ranked sides on Thursday, May 29, while the Eliminator encounter will take place on Friday, May 30, featuring the third and fourth-ranked sides.

Later, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the second qualifier on Sunday, June 1, featuring the loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator. The grand finale is also scheduled to take place at the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.

It’s important to note that Dr Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and Eden Gardens in Kolkata were initially supposed to host the last four games before the one-week suspension of the tournament.

Furthermore, the official statement from the BCCI read that the new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council, keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters.

RCB vs SRH shifted to Lucknow from Bengaluru

Moreover, the same statement added that the 65th match of the IPL 2025 season between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been relocated to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, due to unfavourable weather conditions in Bengaluru.

“Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, May 20,” the statement further read.

At the time of writing this article, the Gujarat Titans are leading the standings with nine wins and three losses, picking up 18 points from 12 games. RCB and PBKS occupy the second and third ranks with 17 points apiece. One of MI and DC will make it to the fourth rank, qualifying for the playoffs.
