Weaknesses of Rajasthan Royals
1. Lack of overseas batters
The Royals let go the likes of Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin. They did not pick an overseas batter and have only one in Shimron Hetmyer.
RR will be heavily dependent on the Indian batting power which has made them one-dimensional in this department. In case their Indian stars don't fire, they will be in trouble in the batting department.
2. Lack of all-rounders
Another glaring issue that the Royals have is that they don't possess too many all-rounders. They have Wanindu Hasaranga, Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana as the only ones who can do both batting and bowling.
T20 cricket is a game of all-rounders as they give the teams both the crucial requisites - batting and bowling. Even though the impact player rule has made all-rounders less effective, genuine all-rounders mostly have a say in a game just like Hardik Pandya of Mumbai Indians.
3. Injury-prone Jofra Archer
RR have roped Jofra Archer back into their setup after he was not with them in the last four seasons. However, the England speedster is prone to injuries and has suffered several setbacks in recent years.
He heads into the IPL with 19 T20Is since his recent injury hiatus in May 2024. However, RR might have to manage his workload which will leave them short of one of their superstar bowlers.
