IPL 2025: 3 Strengths of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Lucknow Super Giants will be starting their fourth IPL campaign against the Delhi Capitals at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 24. They have a lot to change and prove this year after a not-so-successful season last year.

LSG has been one of the most consistent sides ever since their inception in the Indian Premier League, qualifying for the playoffs in their first two seasons itself. However, they were not able to do so last year and so there have been many changes in the squad. They have done a good job in keeping their core while getting some good names in the squad as well.

Power-packed batting line-up

Lucknow have gathered one of the most attacking and international quality batters in their team with the likes of Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, David Miller and Mitchell Marsh. They also have quality Indian batters in the ranks who definitely have a lot of promise in Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad. Whether it's putting up a huge total on the board, chasing it down or anchoring the innings, they are completely capable of all.

Experienced & aggressive leadership

After letting go of their previous skipper, KL Rahul this year at the mega auctions, the team management acquired the services of Rishabh Pant and declared him the captain of the side. He is a naturally aggressive player and has the needed experience to lead an IPL franchise as well. His aggressive approach might be the boost the team was looking for to get their hands on their first trophy.

Versatile all-round options

LSG don’t have too many all-rounders unlike some other IPL sides like Chennai Super Kings but the ones they do, they straight away find their place in the playing XI. Mitch Marsh, Aiden Markram and Shahbaz Ahmed will give the team the confidence and flexibility it requires, extending bowling and batting options. They also have promising Indian talents coming up in Arshin Kulkarni and Rajvarshan Hangargekar.
