Punjab Kings (PBKS) decided to retain only two players before the IPL 2025 mega-auction: Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. They decided to start afresh and went into the IPL 2025 mega-auction with the most money in their purse.

They utilized star pacer Arshdeep Singh's RTM card at the auction. Harpreet Brar, a utility player, was also re-signed. Aside from these four players, PBKS has a completely new appearance.

The acquisition of Shreyas Iyer was the main attraction for PBKs in the IPL auction. Punjab gave their all for the 2024 IPL champion skipper. The Indian hitter, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders, cost Rs. 26.75 crore.

Additionally, PBKS invested a significant sum of money in South African pacer Marco Jansen and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Azmatullah Omarzai, Josh Inglis, and Glenn Maxwell were also added to the roster.

1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer will be the main man for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) side in the IPL 2025. Iyer knows the risk that comes with captaining the Punjab side, as they have had the most captains in IPL history. Despite the potholes, Shreyas Iyer, who won the IPL 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has tasked himself with the responsibility of captaining the side.

Maxwell was playing brilliantly in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. In just nine games, he amassed 325 runs at a strike rate of 186.78 and an average of 54.16. 3. Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis is expected to be the primary wicketkeeper for Punjab Kings and open the innings as well. Inglis boasts of a very good T20I record for Australia, scoring 706 runs in 29 games with 2 centuries to his name with a strike rate of 156.88.

He also has 3370 runs in 139 T20 games with a strike rate of 148.06 and 4 centuries to his name. Inglis will be tasked with bringing the fearless approach to the top order of PBKS batters.
