Mumbai Indians are the joint-most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But their performance in the last few seasons, especially after winning the 2020 edition, hasn’t been up to the mark at all. They changed their captain to Hardik Pandya last year but the results didn’t change.

Nevertheless, the five-time IPL champions have built a solid, strong squad yet again to win the IPL for the record sixth time. They have certain game changers in their line-up who can create magic in IPL 2025. Here are three game changers in the MI squad for the upcoming season:

1. Suryakumar Yadav

Mr 360 degree of IPL and India, Suryakumar Yadav is not only a game changer but also the match-winner in his own way. If Surya is in good form, Mumbai Indians are certainly winning a few games on the trot. Yes, such is his ability that MI are never in trouble when he is in the middle.

He has so far scored 3594 runs in 135 innings in the cash-rich league at an average of 32.08 and a strike rate of 145.32 with two centuries and 24 fifties to his name. Such gigantic numbers make him a match-winner and he can become the game changer, without any doubt in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

2. Will Jacks

Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani got up from his seat to thank the RCB think tank during the auction for letting go of Will Jacks. Such is the aura of this England all-rounder and he is certainly a massive game changer in the shortest format of the game. Will Jacks, with his batting, can change the complexion of the game within a few deliveries.

If he opens the innings or bats at number three, Jacks can certainly register massive scores. Not many have still forgotten his 40-ball century for RCB last season and expect him to repeat those heroics for MI in IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Will he be able to live up to his reputation? Well, Jacks isn’t in great form but it needs only one confident shot to return to best in T20 cricket and he certainly can change MI’s season in a positive way.

3. Jasprit Bumrah

If Jasprit Bumrah is not a game changer then no one is in the cricketing world right now. If fit, no bowler can match Bumrah’s aura at all. Irrespective of the format, Bumrah is the first name on the team sheet and the same goes with MI.

The legendary bowler’s four overs are no less than a nightmare for any opposition. His four overs have won MI a lot of games in the past and no doubt, he will do the same in the upcoming edition as well. He has picked 165 wickets in just 133 innings in IPL at a strike rate of just 18.3 and these numbers prove his mettle in the format.
