1. KL Rahul

DC made a big move in the IPL 2025 auction by acquiring KL Rahul for INR 14 crore. He is expected to play as their opening wicketkeeper-batter. Rahul has been one of the most consistent batters in IPL history, crossing 500 runs in six of the last seven seasons. 

However, his strike rate has often been a talking point despite his high run tally. Last season, he led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and scored 520 runs at an average of 37.14 and a strike rate of 136.13, including four fifties.

For DC, fans will hope that Rahul continues his run-scoring form and plays a crucial role at the top. Even if he does not get the captaincy duties, his vast experience will make him an important part of the leadership group.

2. Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) title-winning campaign last season, picking up 17 wickets in 14 games. His performances in the playoffs and final were crucial in building pressure on opponents. For IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) secured Starc for INR 11.75 crore, expecting him to bring the same impact. 

His lethal swing with both the new and old ball will be vital for DC’s success. While he opted out of the Champions Trophy for Australia, he is expected to be fully available for the IPL. DC fans will hope for game-changing spells from the Aussie speedster throughout the season. 3. Axar Patel

Axar Patel has emerged as one of India’s most versatile and improved cricketers in recent times. Recently appointed vice-captain of the T20I team, he played a crucial role in India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.

In IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) fans will hope for impactful performances from him with both bat and ball. In the ongoing Champions Trophy, Axar has batted ahead of KL Rahul at No. 5, excelling on the slow tracks in Dubai. With the ball, he has consistently built pressure, leading to key wickets.

Reports suggest he is a front-runner for the DC captaincy. Whether he gets the role or not, Axar will undoubtedly be a key player for the franchise this season. DC retained him for INR 16.50 crore, and in the last season, he picked up 11 wickets along with 235 runs at a strike rate of 131.28, including two fifties.
