IPL 2025: 3 Expensive SRH players who gave low returns

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had great hopes going into the 2025 Indian Premier League and made significant investments in a number of high-profile players to bolster their team. On the field, though, not all high-profile signings lived up to the hype.

On paper, the team was good, but a few expensive players performed poorly, disappointing management and supporters by not living up to their high prices.

Here are the 3 Expensive SRH players who gave low returns in IPL 2025:

1. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was acquired by SRH for ₹11.25 crore, with the expectation that he will play a significant role in their batting lineup. But he only managed to score 354 runs at a strike rate of 152.58 in 14 games. Even with his aggressive style, Kishan frequently struggled to turn starts into meaningful innings.

Although he started the season with a century and finished with a fifty, his inconsistent play undermined the steadiness of SRH's middle order. His high price tag didn't translate into on-field value because he didn't make any noteworthy contributions in pivotal games.

2. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami, who was purchased for ₹10 crore to spearhead SRH's pace attack, ended up being one of their greatest letdowns in the 2025 IPL. In nine games, he took just six wickets at an economy rate of 11.23. Shami frequently let boundaries slip at crucial times and found it difficult to control runs in both the powerplay and death overs.

SRH's bowling unit was exposed all season long due to Mohammed Shami’s inability to provide timely breakthroughs. His effect was further limited by ongoing fitness problems, which made the squad rely more on other bowlers to carry the load.

3. Abhinav Manohar

SRH spent ₹3.20 crore on Abhinav Manohar to strengthen their batting lineup and give them more punch. But he only scored 61 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 100. He lacked significant knocks from his beginnings, which created a gap in the middle order.

When SRH needed the big hits, Manohar didn't deliver. The team's attempts to establish or chase competitive totals were hampered by his erratic play and slow scoring pace. All things considered, his lackluster campaign did not live up to the hype.
