IPL 2025: 3 Expensive RCB players who gave low returns

Even after Royal Challengers Bengaluru broke their 18-year wait for an IPL title in 2025, not all big-ticket signings materialised. Each IPL auction involves some degree of risk, and though RCB's headline stars eventually contributed towards the franchise winning its first trophy, these three pricey recruits are a reminder that in T20 cricket, spending big doesn't necessarily bring match-winning dividends. Here are three of RCB's most expensive picks whose returns were less than promised:

1. Liam Livingstone (₹ 8.75 crore)

Signed to provide firepower during the middle overs, the English all-rounder couldn't find any sort of rhythm. For a player with a reputation for huge sixes and useful bowling, Livingstone did little more than muster 112 runs in ten games, a single fifty being the return on an ₹ 8.75-crore investment. His eight dismissals at an average of 16.00, and off-spin took only two wickets in nine overs. For a game-changer player, those figures disappointed all season long.

2. Rasikh Dar (₹ 6 crore)

Promised as a young local pace bowler, Dar did not quite take off at Chinnaswamy. In the two games he featured in, he gave away 70 runs off six overs and picked up only one wicket, leaving him with an alarmingly high economy rate of 11.67 and a bowling average of 70.00. For ₹ 6 crore, RCB supporters looked for better than a couple of cameo appearances that wasted the bowling budget without a decisive return.

3. Suyash Sharma (₹ 2.6 crore)

Having played for a team that was crowned champions last season, Suyash Sharma was also considered a champion in his game. Despite playing only two games last season, he was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru to play IPL 2025 for a price of Rs 2.6 crores and played as many as 14 matches. But it was not that successful as he scalped only eight wickets from them, of which three had come in one game itself. He had let the team down on quite many occasions.
