IPL 2025: 3 DC players who didn't get a chance to play

Despite a strong start to IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) had a disappointing end as they failed to qualify for the playoffs. They finished fifth with 15 points from 14 games and a net run rate of +0.011. At one stage, it seemed DC would qualify for the playoffs comfortably, but they fell short.

Inconsistency was a key issue for their players, and the team struggled during the final stages of the league. Even key players like Mitchell Starc did not return after the tournament’s resumption, and that left them with a big void to fill. Meanwhile, several players didn’t get a single game despite having potential and performing decently in domestic cricket.

Here are the three DC players who didn't get a chance to play in IPL 2025:

Darshan Nalkande

This right-arm fast-medium pacer from Maharashtra made his IPL debut in 2022 for the Gujarat Titans (GT). Until the 2024 season, he had played six matches for GT and picked up six wickets. DC bought him for INR 30 Lakh ahead of the 2025 edition.

However, he didn’t get a single game throughout the season. With experienced Indian pacers like T Natarajan, Mohit Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar already in the squad, it was difficult for DC to fit him into the playing XI.

Manvanth Kumar

Manvanth Kumar is regarded as one of the most talented all-rounders from Mysuru. In this edition, DC spent INR 30 Lakh to acquire his services. He had already represented Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024–25. Despite being a promising left-handed batter and a handy right-arm medium pacer, he did not get a single game during the tournament.

Ajay Mandal

This 29-year-old left-arm orthodox bowler made his first-class debut for Chhattisgarh in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. He later debuted in T20s and List A cricket in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

In 46 T20s so far, Ajay has scored 450 runs and taken 44 wickets. He was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2023 edition but didn’t play a single match. Ahead of the 2025 season, DC bought him for INR 30 Lakh, but once again, he did not get a game.
