Speaking about the stats at the IPL 2025 mega auction, a total of 182 players were sold, with 62 overseas players getting bids. Interestingly, INR 639.15 Crore was utilized to secure the services of these players.

While some of the top-class cricketers like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer secured deals like INR 27 Crore and INR 26.75 Crore by LSG and PBKS, respectively, some other cricketers received significant pay cuts.

Uttar Pradesh's explosive batter Sameer Rizvi emerged as one of the biggest domestic signings by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the IPL 2024 Auction, courtesy of his exceptional performances in U23 games at the UP T20 League.

While his services were pocketed by CSK at INR 8.4 Crore in the IPL 2024 Auction, he could score only 51 runs from eight games. Later, he was released after the season. Subsequently, he was picked by the Delhi Capitals franchise for INR 95 Lakhs as he suffered a pay cut of INR 7.45 Crores in a season.

2. Mitchell Starc

IPL 2024 Auction price: INR 24.75 Crore

IPL 2025 Auction price: INR 11.75 Crore

The Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc emerged as one of the important players for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 season, propelling the franchise to a title win, scalping 17 wickets from 13 innings.

He was roped in by the KKR franchise at a whopping price of INR 24.75 Crore at the IPL 2024 Auction. However, the tables turned rapidly for the pacer as he was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for only INR 11.75 Crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, as he suffered an INR 13 Crore pay cut.

1. Sam Curran

IPL 2024 Auction price: INR 18.50 Crore

IPL 2025 Auction price: INR 2.40 Crore

Interestingly, the biggest pay cut was taken by the English all-rounder Sam Curran. He was picked up by the Punjab Kings at INR 18.50 Crore at the IPL 2023 Auction. Later, he was retained by the Punjab-based franchise for the same price in IPL 2024.

With the Punjab franchise going ahead with a complete overhaul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Curran was released. However, he was picked by the Chennai Super Kings at INR 2.40 Crore as he suffered a massive pay cut of INR 16.10 Crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
