After years of underperforming in the tournament, Delhi Capitals had a very successful season last year and reached the summit clash of the IPL. Carrying on their form, they have won three out of their four games this season as well.
Shikhar Dhawan has been in top form while the inclusion of Steve Smith seems to have provided the stability in their batting. Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stoinis complete a strong batting lineup. In Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin, they have two great spinners to exploit the slow conditions of Chennai. Also, the pacers, Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan have bowled splendidly well. Ishant Sharma is fit and will be available for selection but with Avesh Khan bowling well, DC might not include him in the XI.
Coming to Sunrisers Hyderabad, they managed to break their losing streak and picked up a win over Punjab Kings. With Bairstow, Warner and Williamson as their top three, they certainly have one of the best top order in the tournament. However, there is not much to follow. The Indian contingent needs to step up and support their top order. The bowling is not an issue with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan available at their disposal. Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul and Abhishek Sharma also had a good game against PBKS.
Pitch Report – The surface in Chennai is slow and batting isn’t the easiest task. Also, chasing has been difficult here thus toss will be very crucial.
T Natarajan has been ruled out of the entire IPL after aggravating his injury. SRH has not named any replacements yet.
The surface in Chennai is supportive of the spinners and Rashid Khan will be a massive weapon for Hyderabad.
David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson, Virat Singh, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Kedar Jadhav, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul
Ishant Sharma has recovered from injury and will be available for selection in the next game. However, it will be interesting to see if Pant includes him in the XI as Avesh Khan has been bowling well.
The southpaw has been in red hot form and has already played a couple of match-winning knocks. If he gets going, DC can bat SRH out of the game.
