Delhi Capitals batsman Shreyas Iyer is delighted to join the Capitals’ squad for IPL after recovering from the shoulder injury that forced him to miss the India leg of the tournament. Iyer picked up the injury in the ODI series against England and had to undergo surgery in the UK. He was also set to represent Lancashire in the Royal London One Day Cup but had to pull out due to the same.

"I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest," Iyer said. "This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It's never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum.

"The feeling was very difficult to sit out and see my team-mates play. I was sitting in front of the TV, watching each and every game and feeling as if I am on the ground and trying to replicate the scenario at my place. But, it's in the past now, I have to forget about it and continue with the same flow, the team has maintained throughout."

In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant was handed the reigns of Delhi Capitals, who led the team well with six wins in eight games. Delhi resume their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22 in Dubai. Shreyas Iyer is confident that the team can continue their good run in the UAE as well.

"We have discussed how we should progress through the practice sessions before the matches start," Iyer said. "We have decided that we should be moving incrementally. We don't have to give it our all because the climate is different over here. We need to adapt to the weather conditions and acclimatize as quickly as possible, and that's what our mindset should be."

Meanwhile, with Iyer's return, Delhi Capitals are in dilemma to hand over the captaincy back to Iyer or stick with Pant. As per several reports, the franchise has decided to give Pant an extension.
