Let’s admit it, there is no better contest than CSK vs RCB in the IPL. Not that they have the best set of players but because these two franchises have the largest fanbase. The build-up for the game is something that you wouldn’t find for any other contest.

We are into the second week of IPL and barring some hardcore fans, not a lot of people would have expected RCB and CSK as the two top teams in the tournament. No disrespect to them but the way RCB have started their IPL over the years and the way CSK played the last season, this was not expected. However, both teams have played some outstanding cricket in this edition and deserves their spots. RCB, surprisingly have been undefeated in the tournament while CSK have roared back after a defeat in the first game.

Both are riding on the performances of their new signings. Glenn Maxwell and Moeen Ali have been invaluable additions to the franchises. Devdutt Padikkal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have also carried on their form from IPL 2020. Both teams don’t have a fancy bowling lineup but have punched above their weight.

The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, a venue that’s yielded some of the most high scoring matches of IPL 2021 thus it’s all set up for a magnificent encounter.

Pitch Report - With so many matches, the pitch seems to have lost its pace which means that timing the ball won’t be easy. This could mean that the par score could be something around 160.

Jason Behrendorff is serving the mandatory quarantine thus won't be available for selection in tomorrow’s game.

X-Factor

CSK has used Moeen Ali as a proper batsman till now but if required he can be very handy with the ball as well. Even though he hasn’t scored big runs, he has looked the most fluent of all CSK batsmen. When you are striking the ball well, a big inning is not far away.

Probable XI

1 Faf du Plessis, 2 Ruturaj Gaikwad, 3 Moeen Ali, 4 Suresh Raina, 5 Ambati Rayudu, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 MS Dhoni (capt, wk), 8 Sam Curran, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 Lungi Ngidi, 11 Deepak Chahar

Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Almost every individual has contributed to the success of the team thus Virat Kohli won’t be keen on making unnecessary changes.

X-Factor

AB de Villiers

While RCB have plenty of firepower in their tank, AB de Villiers is one player that can turn the game on its head. Batting first or chasing, his position is perfect to come and start tearing the bowling apart. When he is swinging hard, it’s very difficult to contain him.

Probable XI

1 Virat Kohli (capt), 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Shahbaz Ahmed, 4 Glenn Maxwell, 5 AB de Villiers (wk), 6 Washington Sundar, 7 Kyle Jamieson, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Kane Richardson, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Mohammad Siraj
