If reports are to be believed, the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway from April 11. According to InsideSports, the IPL Governing Council is planning to start the IPL 2021 two weeks after the conclusion of the bilateral series between India and England. The 4 Test series kicks off on 5th February and concludes on March 28.
"The final decision will be taken by IPL GC but 11th April is the tentative date to start IPL 2021. The series against England finishes in March and players will get good break with 11th April start for IPL 14th’ said a BCCI official.
Let’s look at some of the key events that’s already been confirmed by the BBCI.
February 13 - The IPL registration for the players are still under process. Post Feburary 13th, which is the final date for the registration, the BBCI will get the final list of the players that’ll feature in IPL auction.
February 14 - February 14th is the last day to trade players from other franchises. They can swap players or make a cash deal to get the player of their choice.
February 18 - The auction for the IPL 2021 will take place on 18th February in Chennai. The franchises have released quite a few players thus they’ll need to purchase players from the auction to complete their squad. Teams like RCB and KXIP will be busier than other franchises as they’ve more slots to fill.
