IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians depart for UAE

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side, led by MS Dhoni has departed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the second leg of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the second leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The franchise took to Twitter to share a picture of their contingent leaving for the UAE.

Apart from the CSK,  Mumbai Indians (MI) also left for the UAE on 13th August 2021. The 14th edition of the IPL was suspended midway in May due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The second half of the tournament will be played from 19th September 2021 to 15th October 2021. The first match of the second leg will pit the two most successful sides in the history of the IPL against each other. The Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians will collide against each other when the IPL restarts.

At the time of suspension, the Delhi Capitals (DC) side was occupying the top place in the points table. They had won 6 out of the 8 matches they played in the tournament while the Chennai Super Kings were positioned at the second place. The third and fourth spots in the points table were occupied by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) outfits respectively. Shikhar Dhawan is the owner of the Orange Cap currently, while the Purple Cap is held by Harshal Patel.
