Prithvi Shaw is currently busy playing in the ongoing One-Day Cup for Northamptonshire. On 4 August 2023, he was in action for the county side in the tournament against Gloucestershire in Cheltenham. However, Northamptonshire suffered a 23-run defeat while Shaw scored just 34 runs off 35 balls, including two fours and one six.

But, he suffered a bizarre hit wicket dismissal and that video went viral instantly. Seeing that, fans also came up with some funny comments on social media. Speaking of the incident, it took place during the 16th over his team’s innings. On the last delivery of that over, Paul van Meekeren bowled a bouncer.

The Delhi Capitals (DC) opener tried to pull that ball but he fell down awkwardly and hit the stumps with his feet. Thus, he got out and it left the batter utterly stunned. Speaking of the match, the Northamptonshire skipper, Lewis McManus won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, Gloucestershire got bundled out for 278 runs in 48.4 overs. Graeme van Buuren scored 108 runs off 102 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes while Anwar Ali scored 61 runs off 56 balls, including three fours and two sixes. For Northamptonshire, Ben Sanderson took three wickets for 34 runs in eight overs.

Along with him, Rob Keogh took two wickets while both Tom Taylor and Freddie Heldreich took one wicket each. In reply, Northamptonshire were in all sorts of trouble after losing six wickets for just 54 runs after 16 overs. But, then, skipper Lewis scored 54 runs off 65 balls while Tom Taylor played a splendid knock of 112 runs off 88 balls, including 16 fours and three sixes. Their efforts went in vain as they fell short by 23 runs. They got bundled out in 48.1 overs. For Gloucestershire, both Tom Price and Ajeet Singh Dale took four wickets each along with one wicket each from Zafar Gohar and Paul van Meekeren.
