In what has come as a big development, the Indian Cricket Board has informed the broadcasters that they want the Indian T20 League matches to start at 8pm from next edition onwards. The board also stated that they won’t be conducting too many double-headers.
For all the afternoon games, they would want those matches to be started at 4 pm. As of now, all the evening games start at 7:30 pm, while the afternoon games begin at 3:30 pm.
“BCCI's preferred start times for double-headers being 4 pm and 8 pm Indian Standard Time," the BCCI said in a communique to the interested parties who want to bid for the television and digital rights of the league for the 2023-27 five-year cycle.
For the unversed, during the first 10 editions of the league, the matches used to start at 4 pm and 8 pm. However, following the request of Star Sports ( the broadcasters), the timings were changed. For the last five years, the matches start at 3:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the board has extended the last date for the purchase of the ITT document by 10 days.
"Pursuant to requests from various interested parties, BCCI has now decided to further extend the date for purchasing the ITT documents till May 20, 2022. The procedure for purchasing the ITT documents is laid down in Exhibit I. All other terms contained in the Exhibit I (including the non-refundable ITT fee amount) shall be applicable herein," the BCCI said in a statement recently.
Earlier, it was reported that the big brands like Star India, Viacom 18, Sony, Amazon, Zee, Dream 11, Supersports in South Africa and Sky in the UK bought the ITT document. The bidding is scheduled to be held on 12th June 2022. The Indian Cricket Board has fixed a combined base prize of INR 32,890 crores for the four bouquets it has put up for sale.
