The Kolkata-Bangalore rivalry lived up to its expectations as fans witnessed an absolutely thrilling contest between the two teams. However, it was a low-scoring encounter this time around. Bangalore toppled Kolkata as they held their nerves to win the game with four balls to spare.

Bangalore were simply sensational with the ball as they didn't allow any of the Kolkata batters to settle. It was a separate story that the Kolkata batters themselves didn't want to settle, and play the big shots from ball one. A cluster of wickets meant that they had to manage with an underwhelming score.
It could have been much worse if not for the partnership between Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, who enabled their side to 128. In response, the Bangalore-based batters struggled as well as they lost quick wickets. Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee were bowling great line and lengths. Bangalore's top-order had no answers for their bowling.
However, it was Sunil Narine who was Kolkata's MVP with the ball. In his four overs, he only gave 12 runs, and picked a wicket. Nevertheless, Useful cameos from Shahbaz Ahmed and Sherfane Rutherford helped Bangalore get closer to their target. Tim Southee's 17th over titled things towards Kolkata's side as things looked bleak for Bangalore. However, Dinesh Karthik had other plans.
The keeper-batter lived up to his reputation of being a finisher and kept his calm. With seven needed from the final over, he finished it in two balls. This ensured that Kolkata lose their first game of the Indian T20 league 2022. They lost by three wickets.
