The 21st game between Hyderabad and Gujarat was topsy-turvy, to say the least. While some moments saw the Hardik Pandya-led side dominate the proceedings, the Kane Williamson-led also had the edge during several moments of the game. At the end, it was the orange army that emerged victorious. They beat Gujarat by eight wickets. It was a clinical performance by the Hyderabad-based franchise

After being asked to bat first, Gujarat's top-order attempted to go for the kill. However, things didn't really go according to plan as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Matthew Wade's miseries in the Indian T20 league 2022 continued as he was yet again dismissed after playing an underwhelming knock. Gujarat's skipper Hardik Pandya then decided to take the responsibility on his shoulders.

Batting at four, he scored a superb half-century in 42 balls. He was well supported by Abhinav Manohar towards the end of the innings as the batter scored a handy cameo of 35. It is to be noted that he was dropped thrice by the Hyderabad fielders.

This enabled the Gujarat-based franchise to 162-7 in their stipulated 20 overs. During the second innings, Hyderabad's openers played it safe and didn't take too many risks. Although Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 42 in the last ball of the eighth over, Williamson carried on.

The Hyderabad skipper anchored the innings as he went on to score a 46-ball 57. After he was dismissed in the 16th over, the game was at balance. After which, Nicholas Pooran came to the party and hit some lusty blows. He ensured that his side end up on the winning side. Besides, the keeper-batter getting back to the groove comes as a huge boost for the Hyderabad-based franchise.

At the end, the 2016-champions won with five balls to spare. Williamson won the player of the match award. Several fans took to Twitter to post some hilarious memes on the game.
