Chennai have now won their third game of the Indian T20 league 2022 as they beat Hyderabad by 13 runs. As the captaincy was handed over back to MS Dhoni, the "Thala" ensured that his first game as captain of the 2022 edition turned out to be a memorable one. It was a high-scoring contest as batters on either side struck some humongous sixes.

After being asked to bat first, Chennai's openers left no stone unturned in ensuring that their side gets to a huge total in the first innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway added 182 runs. It is safe to say that they were clearing the ropes for fun.

Amidst the poor form and criticism, Gaikwad finally came to his own, and looked like his usual self. He went on to score a brilliant 99 from just 57 balls. He hit six fours and six sixes. The fact that he took the in-form Umran Malik to the cleaners was marvellous, to say the least. Thus, the opener was unlucky to miss out on a hundred.

Devon Conway however continued the mayhem, as he ended up scoring an unbeaten 85 from 55 balls. While his strike rate during his knock was 154.55, he hit eight fours and four sixes. Thus, The Chennai-based franchise scored 202-2 in their stipulated 20 over.

During the second innings, Hyderabad got to an explosive start as well. However, the aggressor Abhishek Sharma was dismissed after scoring a 24-ball 39. On the other hand, Hyderabad's skipper Kane Williamson took 37 balls to score 47 before being dismissed by Dwaine Pretorius in the 15th over. It was never going to be easy for the orange army as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

However, Nicholas Pooran kept the hopes for Hyderabad alive as he struck some lusty blows. Yet, even he couldn't win the game for his side as the Hyderabad-based franchise fell short of their target by 13 runs. Poora scored an unbeaten 64 from just 33 balls. This is the Williamson-led side's fourth loss of this season. The fans took to Twitter to post some hilarious memes.
