After losing their first four games of the Indian T20 league 2022, Chennai have finally got their first win of this edition. They were clinical, to say the least, and showed no mercy on Bangalore. They beat the Faf du Plessis-led side by 23 runs.

The fact that the defending champions won this game despite losing the toss comes as a major confidence booster for them. As they were asked to bat first, Chennai didn't take too many risks early on. As a matter of fact, they only scored 35 runs in their first six overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to impress once again as he was dismissed for 17.
After which, Moeen Ali also has a poor outing, and was dismissed for just three. Post his dismissal, Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa displayed an unreal performance. The duo put together a 165-run partnership, and were ruthless against Bangalore's bowlers. They were hammering sixes for fun.
While Uthappa was dismissed after scoring a 50-ball 88, Dube scored an unbeaten 95 from just 46 balls. His knock included five fours and eight sixes. At the end of the first innings, Chennai got to a humongous total of 216-4. Bangalore had an uphill task, and need to play the big shots from ball one.
Instead, they lose a cluster of wickets early on. Their star batters had to prematurely return to the pavilion as they were reduced to 42-3 in their first six overs. Regular wickets at crucial intervals were never really going to help their cause. However, Suyash Prabhudsai scored an impressive 18-ball 34 and impressed one and all.
Chennai's Maheesh Theekshana was brilliant as he took a four-fer. Although Chennai's captain Ravindra Jadeja went for 39 runs in his full quota of four overs, he did pick three wickets. Dinesh Karthik tried his best to achieve the impossible as he scored a 14-ball 34. Yet, Bangalore scored 193-9 in the second innings, and failed to chase the target.
