The 48th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 shall see Gujarat take on Punjab. While the Hardik Pandya-led side have been in sublime form, the Mayank Agarwal-led side have been below-par. The 2014-finalists have been topsy-turvy in this edition so far. Although Punjab have looked good in patches, they haven't really been consistent.

They have only won four out of their nine games, and are currently placed seventh on the points table. A loss over here and their chances of making it to the playoffs could get harder. The Punjab-based franchise's aggressive brand of cricket has backfired on a few occasions as none of their batters other than Shikhar Dhawan have managed to hold the innings from one end. One of the major concerns for them would be the form of their skipper Agarwal.

The opener has struggled. Besides, their star English player Jonny Bairstow hasn't really been at his best either. If the Punjab-based franchise are to do well, then the keeper-batter and Agarwal need to fire. As for Gujarat, they have looked nearly unstoppable in this edition. The Gujarat-based franchise are currently placed at the top of the points table.

Although they have more or less booked their spot in the playoffs, they would want to continue their domination. Besides, they would aim to finish at the top, as the top two teams get two chances of making it to the final. With some aggressive players on either side, this game promises to be an absolute cracker of a contest.

This game shall be taking place at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Any score above 160 could prove to be a challenging total. The pacers are expected to get some swing early on. Nevertheless, both teams would want to win the toss and bowl first.
