As a matter of fact, it was the skipper who led from the front as he made his 100th Indian T20 league game a memorable one. He went on to score a magnificent century, and struck nine boundaries and five sixes. This enabled Lucknow to get to 199-4 in the first innings.

In reply, Mumbai fell short of the target by 18 runs and thus, Lucknow won their fourth game of this 2022 edition. They are now placed second in the points table. Yet, the one concern was that they maintained a slow over rate during the 26th game of this season.

"Lucknow have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during Match 26 against Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium – CCI, Mumbai on Saturday. As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the league's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, captain KL Rahul was fined Rs 12 lakhs," said the Indian T20 league in a statement.

As far as the game is concerned, Rahul also went on to win the player of the match award. During the post-match presentation, the opener appreciated his team, as well as the management. It is to be noted that Rahul became the first player to score a century in his 100th Indian T20 league game.

"We have played good cricket, nothing to take away from the other teams, we need to keep our feet on the ground and stay humble, keep learning. We're a new franchise, but we have a brilliant team, enjoy spending time with these guys - the team we have picked in the auction, we were clear we wanted good guys in the set-up - the owners have been supportive, the management has been good, it's a caring franchise, people are being looked after well, that's the kind of franchise we wanted to create. It's still early days in the tournament," said KL Rahul.
