Indian women’s cricketer Taniya Bhatia took to Twitter in the early hours of Monday to post a shocking Tweet. The Tweet emphasized her disappointment at the Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management after she was robbed of her possessions in the hotel room.

Bhatia’s tweet read, “Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of Indian Women’s Cricket team. So unsafe.”

Taniya Bhatia also tagged the ECB’s Twitter handle in her second tweet that read, “Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket’s preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well.”

The robbery took place following India’s win in the third ODI match against England.

A controversial end to a magnificent series win

Talking of the match, the last ODI ended in a controversial run-out. What was slated to be all about Indian legendary cricketer Jhulan Goswami and her last match turned into an all-out social media war between most of the cricket fraternity and the England cricket players & fans.

The controversy emerged after Deepti Sharma ran out Charlotte Dean in her bowling stride as the England batter was gaining an unfair advantage. The form of dismissal famously called Mankading, soon took all the limelight away from India’s win and Jhulan Goswami’s retirement as England players like Stuart Broad and Sam Billings argued with Indian cricket fans on the internet about the ‘unfairity’ of the runout.

England fans claimed that the runout was against the spirit of the game and should not have been done by the Indian players. Sane voices, however, soon prevailed with many former and current cricketers supporting Sharma for using a legal and fair run-out mode against England batter, who was gaining an unfair advantage by leaving the crease even before the ball was bowled.
