Indian Cricket Board's officials are set to discuss with Virat Kohli about his future in T20Is, as the latter is no more a regular in the format. The star cricketer is 35 years old and has not played a T20I match in more than 13 months. The last match Virat played in the format was the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022 against England in Adelaide, where India was knocked out of the tournament.

Since then, the star batter has played only in Tests and ODIs at the highest level. Barring that, the exposure of T20s to Virat has all been in the IPL 2023, where he had a fantastic season with the bat for RCB. In the season, Virat was the second-highest run scorer for his team and scored the most number of runs in a season for RCB after 2016.

The form of Virat is not a question, as Virat is capable of returning to form from any kind of situation. When Virat was having his toughest time in cricket in 2022, he made a sensational comeback by registering his much-talked-about 71st international hundred in the Asia Cup 2022 against Afghanistan. In the tournament, he made his comeback in international cricket.

Will Virat return to T20Is after a long time?

Later in the T20 World Cup 2022, Virat was in sensational form, scoring runs for fun against every team. Against Pakistan, Kohli played an all-time great knock at the MCG in front of a packed house. Throughout the tournament, he was great and turned out to be one of the best players in the tournament. He played the match against England, which was his last T20I match to date.

Since then, the Indian team has focused on playing youngsters in the format. The likes of Virat, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin have not played a T20I game since then. Hardik Pandya was aksed to lead the Indian team. The discussion now would be about Virat's potential comeback in the format.
