After the completion of the five-match T20I series, India will host England for a three-match ODI series. The first match of the series will be played on Thursday, February 6, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Both teams will meet in the second ODI on Sunday, February 9, at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The third and final game of the series is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, February 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India and England have played a total of 107 ODI matches so far. India have won 58 out of these 107 matches, while England have been victorious on 44 occasions. Two out of these 107 ODI matches have ended in a tie and three matches have ended in a no result. England last won an ODI series in India during the 1984-85 tour.
Rohit Sharma will be back to lead the Indian team, and Shubman Gill has been appointed as his deputy. The Indian batting order is likely to remain the same as witnessed during the ODI World Cup 2023. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are the two wicketkeepers in the side; only one is likely to feature in the playing 11.
Jos Buttler will lead the English side. It will be the first assignment for Brendon McCullum as the head coach of the white-ball side of the England team. Joe Root has been picked in the ODI squad and he last played an ODI game during the ODI World Cup 2023.
