Former Pakistan skipper, Inzamam ul Haq is in awe of Team India. The legendary cricketer was mighty pleased with India’s performance in the 1st ODI and said that he’s amazed at how players playing their first game show no signs of nervousness and give match winning performances. He sarcastically added that India might have some sort of a machine to produce players for every format.

“I think India have set up some sort of machine to manufacture new players. There were two debutants even today (Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya). This gives a clear signal to the senior cricketers that you have to perform well to stay in the side.

Citing the example of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Inzamam credited India’s success to the new blood. He said that that the youngsters have played a crucial role in India’s dominant run in the last six months.

“I’m noticing since the Australia series that in every match or format, a youngster turns up and gives outstanding performance. Seniors have their role but when juniors perform like this then it speaks a lot about the side. India’s performance has been this good in the last six months because of their youngsters,” Inzamam said in his YouTube channel.

Scrutinizing India’s performance in the 1st ODI, Inzamam added that the Men in Blue are making a mockery of a quality side like England. He revealed that when England openers were batting, it looked like that the match would drift away from India but Indian bowlers didn’t lose hope and bounced back in style. He also lauded the duo of Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul and said that their 112 run partnership took the game away from England.

“The difference that happened in the match was because of KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya. That was the turning point. If India had scored 270-280 then England would have chased it but that 30 runs difference came in the total because of Krunal Pandya, who scored 58 off 31 balls. That’s why I’m saying that there’s a machine in India now,” concluded Inzamam.

India defeated England by 66 runs in the first ODI. They outplayed the visitors in every department and despite being under pressure in the first few overs of the chase, held their nerves to script a memorable win. The next ODI will be played on March 26 at the same venue.
