In an interesting turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to lodge an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistan cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their controversial gesture in the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
According to a report published on India Today, the BCCI filed a complaint against the duo mentioned above on Wednesday, September 24. Notably, those controversial gestures didn’t go down well with the Indian cricketing fraternity.
The ICC hearing is expected to take place if Sahibzada and Rauf deny these allegations in writing. Moreover, the duo might have to appear before the ICC Elite Panel Referee, Richie Richardson, for a hearing.
In another interesting move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also decided to lodge an official complaint with the ICC against the Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav for dedicating the group stage win against Pakistan to the Indian armed forces and standing for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Moving into the details of the controversial gestures on Sunday, September 21, Haris Rauf could be seen responding to the Indian fans with a fighter jet gesture. On the other hand, Sahibzada Farhan came up with an AK-47 celebration after reaching his half-century against India.
"That celebration was just a moment at that time. I do not do a lot of celebrations after scoring 50. But, it suddenly came to my mind that let's do a celebration today. I did that. I don't know how people will take it. I don't care about that," Farhan had told reporters after the match.
While Pakistan will next take on Bangladesh in the Super Four clash on Thursday, September 25, India will lock horns with Sri Lanka on Friday, September 26.
