India’s Smriti Mandhana and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt are set to open for the Best XI of the ICC Women’s World Cup. They were the two highest run-getters in the tournament, with Wolvaardt making a record 571 runs with two hundreds, while Mandhana made 434 runs. Phoebe Litchfield of Australia will bat at no. 3, having scored 304 runs, including 119 in the semi-final.
Jemimah Rodrigues, with 292 runs, including 127* against Australia in the semis, and Marizanne Kapp, with 208 runs and 12 wickets, will form the crux of the middle order of the Best XI. They’ll be followed by Sophie Devine, who scored 289 runs in her final World Cup and ODI appearances, and Richa Ghosh will be the wicketkeeper of this team. Ghosh made 235 runs at a strike rate of 133.52.
The Player of the Tournament, Deepti Sharma, features as well after scoring 215 runs and taking 22 wickets. Nadine de Klerk will come in next, having scored 208 runs and taking nine wickets in the tournament.
