The Indian cricket team are all set to start their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 with a 3-match ODI series against West Indies. The Men in Blue are already suffering from many injury vows of some big and important players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and many more. However, the management might look for some new and young faces as their replacement.
Meanwhile, India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin talked about the upcoming World Cup and said that the toss shouldn’t play any role in the tournament as the Indian team will be in complete force if there is no dew on the ground. He continued to talk about the dew factor and said that the matches should start at around 11:30 am to avoid dew.
"I hope toss doesn't play any role in the World Cup because India's entire skill of batting, bowling, spin, seam, whatever it be, will come into complete force if there is no dew. The difference in quality between the teams isn't coming through, dew is narrowing that gap if you happen to lose the toss. The apex cricket body knows very well that there will be dew, so let’s advance the game, and if we start at 11.30 am, the dew factor won’t come into the game.” Ashwin was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
India has a great chance this time around: R Aswhin
Ashwin also talked about India’s 10-year drought of winning a major world event and said that the team are favourite to win the upcoming tournament. He mentioned that except for a few factors, India are a great team and have a big opportunity to win the tournament this time.
“India do start as favourites ahead of this 2023 World Cup. The whole social media buzz will be about whether India will be able to get a major trophy. We have been following this theme for so many years now asking, 'Can India end the world trophy drought?' If you ask me, this is ridiculous, guys. India is a strong team. Except for a few factors, India has a great chance this time around." Ashwiin said.
