Indian opening batters Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill toyed with the Pakistani bowling line-up for fun in the Super Four clash on Sunday, September 21 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, in Dubai.

While India managed to bag a six-wicket comfortable victory, there were a lot of heated moments when Abhishek and Gill were batting during their 105-run opening partnership, which changed the game’s complexion.

On the last ball of the third over, Gill charged Shaheen Shah Afridi for an impressive boundary and pointed his bat towards the ball, bringing out the shades of Aamer Sohail vs Venkatesh Prasad in 1996.

Later in the fifth over, Gill smacked Haris Rauf for a four to finish off the over with 12 runs. On the other end, Abhishek Sharma was quick enough to throw a few words at Rauf. Eventually, umpire Gazi Sohel intervened and calmed down the situation.

Speaking about the same after the match, Abhishek has asserted that the opposition bowlers were coming at them without any reason, which didn’t go down well with him. For the same reason, Abhishek added that he went after them.

“Today it was very simple. The way they were coming at us without any reason, I did not like it at all. That's why I went after them,” Abhishek said after the game.

In the match, Abhishek and Gill stitched a match-winning 105-run stand. While the former went on to hit a 74-run knock off 39 balls, Gill smashed 47 runs off 28 balls to take the game away from the opposition.

“We (Abhishek and Gill) have been playing since school days, we enjoy each other's company, we thought we would do it and today was the day,” he added.

If India and Pakistan top the points table in the Super Four stage, we might get to see an India vs Pakistan grand finale on Sunday, September 28.
