Interestingly, most recently, India suffered a 1-2 series loss in the three-match ODI series against Australia Down Under, which didn’t go down well with the Indian head coach, as he asserted that he can never celebrate a series loss as a coach.

Speaking exclusively in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on its social media platforms, Gambhir appeared unhappy about the recent ODI series loss to Australia Down Under.

“I think I've always been a believer that it's not about the individual performances. Yes, I can be very happy with the individual performances, yes. And I will always remain happy with individual performances, but ultimately, we lost the ODI series. That's the bottom line. And I can never celebrate a series loss as a coach,” Gambhir said in a video shared by BCCI on social media.

“As a player, I can appreciate individuals, but as a coach, I think it is my moral responsibility that we as a nation and we as individuals should never, never celebrate a series loss. Ultimately, we are representing the country,” he added.

While India started the series with a seven-wicket defeat in Perth, they continued their poor momentum with a two-wicket defeat in Adelaide. However, they bagged a consolation win in Sydney with a nine-wicket win to end the series 1-2.

The most interesting talking point of the series was Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hitting fifty-plus scores in the last ODI. While Rohit scored 73 runs in the Adelaide ODI, he went on to smack an unbeaten 121-run knock in the Sydney ODI. Kohli, on the other hand, scored an unbeaten 74 in the third ODI.
