'How many opportunities will he get?'- Fans upset with KL Rahul's back-to-back poor performance in the Asia Cup 2022

Twitter has been questioning KL Rahul's place in the Indian T20 team. He has had a few poor performances in the Asia Cup 2022.

India is taking on Sri Lanka in their second match of the super four stages in the Asia Cup 2022. The Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka called it right at the toss and sent India to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium. However, things did not start off well for the men in blue.

Opener KL Rahul, who gave India an explosive start in the previous match, perished quickly. Shanaka surprised everyone by bringing in Maheesh Theekshana to bowl the second over of the game, and it paid off. On the fifth ball of the over, Rahul stepped out to try and hit the bowler in the mid-wicket region, but the ball hit him on the pad, and the umpire ruled him out.

The opener believed the ball hit his bat first as he took a review. In the end, the on-field umpire's decision stood, and Rahul had to return to the dressing room. This is not, however, his first poor performance in this tournament.

The 30-year-old was dismissed for a golden duck in the first match against Pakistan. He was then dismissed playing a poor shot in the following match against Hong Kong. The Karnataka-born cricketer has been on the receiving end of criticism since his comeback to the Indian team.

Rahul made his way back to the Indian team during the Zimbabwe tour after being out for a while. He had previously been injured and became infected with Covid later on. His performance in the three ODI matches against Zimbabwe had no impact, which brought him under the scanner.

In the meantime, Twitter has been questioning KL Rahul's place in the Indian T20 team. "Don't understand what KL Rahul is doing in playing XI even after a disastrous performance in the recent matches," an angry fan tweeted.

On the other hand, a fan sarcastically thanked Rahul for wasting only a few deliveries. "Big Thank You to KL Rahul for wasting only 7 balls," he wrote.
