The Indian contingent won two gold medals on day 5 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. First came in the women’s fours lawn bowls competition and the table tennis team brought the second glory for the team in the finals. Notably, the weightlifters are leading the medal-run for India in the 22nd edition of the CWG.

The women’s lawn bowls team of India has created history after winning the first-ever medal in the history of the sport at the Commonwealth Games. Earlier, the women’s team was defeated in the semi-final of the women’s lawn bowls competition. Later on, the women in blue went on to defeat South Africa in the finals. Eventually, they became the Commonwealth Games champions in lawn bowls.

Other than the action during the games, Lovely Chaubey of the women’s lawn bowls team has talked about the role of the Indian men’s team’s former captain MS Dhoni in their success. She said that the latter often visits and also knows their coach on some good terms. Another team member Pinki also revealed her conversation with Dhoni.

Although, this credit to the former Indian captain didn’t go well with the critiques of Dhoni and they started criticizing for no reason. Interestingly, Lovely also hails from Dhoni’s hometown Ranchi in Jharkhand.
