IPL 2023: Here's how MI can still qualify for the playoffs

After a sluggish start to the season, Mumbai Indians (MI) have made a fantastic comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The five-time champions dropped points in their first two games of the campaign before pulling out a narrow victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their third match of the season.

Many supporters believed that MI could fail again after finishing last in IPL 2022 because of their injury-plagued bowling squad and out-of-form batters. However, as the competition went on, Mumbai's performance got better. The inexperienced bowlers successfully carried out their strategies, and the batters got back to their usual selves as MI are now just about to make the playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) now hold the third position in the points standings following the IPL 2023 match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). They have participated in 12 games, winning seven and losing five. The net run rate for MI is 0.117.  Fans should be aware that MI can finish first or second in the final standings in addition to having a decent chance of making the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians will face Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in their last two league games

Mumbai Indians (MI) must first defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their respective games. If they lose both games or only manage to win one, they have little chance of placing in the Top 2 in the league standings.

In the event that MI defeats LSG and SRH, the Rohit Sharma-led team will then need to pray that either Gujarat Titans (GT) lose their games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), or Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lose one of their two games against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). MI will place in the Top 2 of the standings in either of the two possibilities. Then, they will have two chances to earn a spot in the IPL 2023 season finale.
