The Indian cricket board confirmed on October 3, Monday, that Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad. The board took it to their social media accounts to announce the rancid news and said that the decision was taken following a "detailed assessment" in the official statement.

For the unversed, the lead pacer was initially ruled out of the three-match T20I series against South Africa. Many fretted that the 28-year-old might not make it to the mega event in Australia. Further, reports emerged claiming that Bumrah might make it to the squad right before the start.
The Indian cricket board further revealed in the statement that it will name a replacement for the injured at the earliest. Neither the board nor the coach Rahul Dravid came forward to give a harbinger on the issue while the latter refused to rule him out of the squad.

Former legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar opined that the void left by Bumrah cannot be filled by any other cricketer in India. “Jasprit Bumrah's absence from the Indian team for the World Cup will hurt India considerably. There's no other player in the Indian team, with due respect to every other player, whose absence means so much than Bumrah,” said Sunil Gavaskar in his column on Mid-Day.
Jasprit Bumrah played five T20Is for India this year and managed to pick up four scalps. This news has lowered the morale of the Indian team and the board will have no choice but to break their heads to come up with the proper replacement.
