The lead-up to the India-Pakistan game induces a lot of banter from the former players from both nations. Last year, ahead of the India vs Pakistan game in the 20-20 World Cup, former India and Pakistan cricketers, Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar indulged in a banter. Singh had said that the Men In Blue will win easily. After all, the two-time World Cup winner had the numbers to strengthen his case.

"I told Shoaib Akhtar that there's no sense in Pakistan participating; you should give us a walkover. You'll play, you'll lose again, and you'll be upset." On Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh had remarked, "Our squad is extremely solid, very powerful, and they will easily beat you guys.”

Pakistan had never won a game against their arch-rivals since the inception of the 20-20 World Cup in 2007. However, what folded in Dubai on October 24, 2021, was something no Indian fan had thought of in their wildest of dreams. The Babar Azam-led side won the game by 10 wickets. The win had come at a time when the team had entered the event with a string of failures in white-ball games.

Meanwhile, both teams will face once again this year in the 20-20 World Cup. This time around, the former off-spinner has refrained from predicting the winner of the game. The 41-year-old reasoned that everything went bad for the Indian team due to the mauka-mauka campaign.

"We have another 20-20 World Cup and this year, I won't be giving any statement and won't talk over who will win ," he told to Shoaib Akhtar in a conversation on an Indian sports website.

"Mauka Mauka or whatever, we will see what is going to happen as last time around things went bad due to this."

The teams will play each on October 23 this year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Rohit Sharma-led side will be the favourites to win as they have a good record down under in the recent years.
