Australia pace legend Brett Lee has recently opened up on Jasprit Bumrah’s long-standing back issue. While he suggested that the pacer needs to change his bowling action to take the pressure off his back, he also identified how his back issue has been unfortunate and has kept his records on hold. However, in light of the criticism he has been receiving, Brett Lee made sure to send a reassuring message.

"I had 10 surgeries in my life, but I'm still able to bowl. Jasprit Bumrah will be fine", the former Australia speedster said. When he was in action in the Legend’s Cricket League, Brett Lee said, "Bumrah has a wonderful record. Unfortunately for him, he has had that back issue for quite some time now. The only advice I would say is that with his run-up being so short, he has to find that pace and power out of his action where I think, maybe now, in due course, he might extend his run-up to allow that pressure to be taken off his back."

Brett Lee is a huge proponent of Umran Malik

Identifying the gap Burmah’s absence has created in the Indian pace attack, Brett Lee said Umran Malik’s inclusion in the playing XI is something that can aid the Indian cause. "I like him. Get him in. Why not? (Inclusion in Test cricket). I said he should have played the World Cup last year in Australia. Didn't take him at the start, but he should have been there. He would have been the first pick in my team because raw pace is very hard to harness. You must look after them, but you've also got to throw him in the deep end at some time. Get him out there, allow him to play and let him scare a few batters around the world," Brett Lee said on Sports Tak.

Lee previously compared Umran to a Ferrari and supported his selection for India's starting Lineup. Umran should be a lock for India to include in their World Cup plans later this year, given his form and assuming he can maintain it.
