After two days of play in the first Test in Dominica, India have been clearly dominant over the West Indies as they gained a lead of 162 runs with eight more wickets in hand. Debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal is still unbeaten on 143 runs at the end of day two while Virat Kohli was also unbeaten on 36 runs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma also notched up his 10th Test ton before getting out on 103 runs. But, all eyes were on Shubman Gill as he was to bat at number three position. Cheteshwar Pujara got excluded from the squad of this series and hence, Gill got the opportunity to bat at that position. In fact, on the eve of the clash, Rohit confirmed that Gill had a chat with head coach Rohit Sharma as he wants to bat at that position.

During a media interaction, he said: "Shubman Gill will play at No. 3 because he wants to play at three. He told Rahul bhai that he has played all of his cricket at No. 3 and No. 4 and that he can do better for the team at No. 3. It helps us too as it creates a left-right opening combination. This is what we are trying and hopefully, this becomes a long-term thing as we have been desperate for a left-hander. We have got that left-hander in Jaiswal and let's hope that he performs well for the team and he can really make that spot his own".

So, after Rohit’s dismissal when Gill came out to bat, all eyes were on him. But, he failed miserably and got out on just six runs off eight balls. Seeing such a failure, fans went crazy and slammed him brutally on social media. Speaking of the dismissal, Gill went forward to defend but the ball from Warrican spun away. It took the outside edge and Athanaze took a sharp catch.
