On 18 May 2023, Virat Kohli lit up the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad by playing a top knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He smashed his sixth IPL ton as Kohli scored 100 runs off 63 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. His knock helped RCB to chase down the target of 187 runs in 19.2 overs with eight wickets in the bag.

After that, messages rained on Twitter from the cricketing fraternity and Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir was not an exception also. He tweeted: “what a inning by one and only the real king @imVkohli take a bow.” Seeing that, fans went crazy and it seemed that he took an indirect dig at the Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam.

Here is the shared tweet:

“I don’t give myself enough credit sometimes for playing impact knocks.” – Virat Kohli

Babar’s fans call him King also for his contributions to Pakistan’s wins. So, it has always been found that there is a debate between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s fans on who is the real king of world cricket. So, fans shared some mixed reactions after seeing such a cheeky tweet from the Pakistan pacer. Speaking of the match, Heinrich Klaasen smashed his maiden IPL ton and SRH scored 186 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Kohli and du Plessis put up a partnership of 172 runs for the first wicket in 17.5 overs.

After winning the Player of the Match award, Kohli said: “I never look at my numbers. I don’t give myself enough credit sometimes for playing impact knocks. I take pride to play the situation. I don’t play fancy shots. We have to play 12 months of the year, so you can’t play fancy shots and throw your wicket away. I try to stay true to my technique and take pride which helps my team. I told Faf that it was like a home game, cheering for RCB and taking my name as well. I feel you can’t create this. I’m myself on the field and think it resonates with the people. Great to see people happy when I perform.”
