'Halla bol diya first ball pe' - Fans react as Virat Kohli gets out on golden duck against RR in IPL 2023

On 23 April 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL. After defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last game, RCB were looking for another win at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, in the last game, Virat Kohli led RCB as Faf du Plessis played as an impact player.

Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he got an injury in his ribs. Hence, he just played as an impact player and came out to bat only. So, fans were eager to see if he plays or not against RR. But, Virat Kohli came out for the toss again as du Plessis was in the impact player list. Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first.

So, all eyes were on skipper Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis when they came out to open the innings. At home matches so far this season, Kohli has performed well with the bat. In four matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he smashed three fifties. So, fans were hoping for another top knock from the stand-by RCB skipper. For RR, Trent Boult came up to bowl and he picked up the wicket of Kohli on teh first ball only.

Virat Kohli scored a golden duck as he pinned LBW by the Kiwi pacer. Boult bowled an inswinging delivery that Kohli tried to play across the wicket. He missed it completely and the ball struck him in front of the wicket. Kohli did not take a review also as it was quite plumb. Hence, RCB dealt an early setback on the first delivery of their innings. However, it was the first duck for Kohli this season. Seeing such a failure, fans went crazy and slammed the batter on social media. Meanwhile, it was not the first time when a left-handed bowler has strapped him in front stumps early in his innings.
