During a conversation with journalists ahead of the first T20I against New Zealand, Laxman heaped his praises on Hardik Pandya and went on to call him a calm leader who is tactically sound.

The 48-year-old referred to the Indian all-rounder’s success as a skipper in the Indian T20 League as the latter won the title of the tournament in his first year of leading any franchise team.

“He's a fabulous leader. We've seen what he has done at Gujarat (Gujarat Titans) in IPL. Someone taking on a leadership role in the 1st yr & and winning the cup isn't a mean achievement. He's not only tactically good, but he's also very calm on the field,” said Laxman during the press conference.

Although, some of the Indian cricket fans completely disagreed with these remarks from VVS Laxman for Hardik Pandya and they took no time in recalling the behavior of Hardik Pandya on the field with the senior player like Mohammed Shami during a match of the Indian T20 League.

Fans immediately took to Twitter for slamming VVS Laxman for the latter’s praising remarks for the Baroda all-rounder.

Here’s how fans reacted to VVS Laxman’s praise for Hardik Pandya:

Talking about Pandya’s stint as captain of the national team of India, he had also led the team previously during the T20I series against Ireland earlier this year in the month of June. The Indians defeated Andy Balbirnie’s men by a margin of 2-0 in a clean sweep.
