GT Playing XI, IPL 2025: Best probable playing XI of Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans (GT) burst onto the IPL scene in 2022, claiming the title in their debut season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. They came close to defending their crown in 2023 but fell short as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious in the final.

In 2024, however, GT faced challenges after Hardik was drafted to Mumbai Indians (MI), leaving Shubman Gill to take over as captain. It turned out to be a disappointing campaign, with GT finishing eighth on the table, managing just 12 points in 14 matches.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, GT retained five key players: Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. They added 20 players during the auction, rounding out a 25-member squad.

Shubman Gill, who is likely to captain again, will open the innings alongside England’s star wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler. At number three, Sai Sudharsan will be pivotal with his ability to anchor the innings while maintaining a healthy strike rate. Mahipal Lomror, having enjoyed a strong domestic season, will be a crucial left-handed option in the middle order.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips brings versatility, offering power-hitting, off-spin, and exceptional fielding. The choice between Indian finishers Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia will depend on form and match situations, as both bring distinct skills to the role.

Washington Sundar’s all-round capabilities make him an essential player, both as a batter and a spinner. He will partner Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who remains GT’s biggest bowling weapon, capable of turning games single-handedly with his leg spin. The pace department will be spearheaded by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada.

Gerald Coetzee can be an option with his all-round abilities, capable of delivering impactful lower-order knocks alongside his pace bowling. Players like Coetzee, Manav Suthar, Sherfane Rutherford, and Sai Kishore offer versatility but may have limited game time depending on team combinations.
