Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL on 23 April 2023. The 32nd match of the tournament took place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB came to this clash after defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last game. On the other hand, RR suffered a defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

However, Virat Kohli captained the side against PBKS as Faf du Plessis played as an impact player due to his rib injury. In this match also, he played only as an impact player as Kohli came out for the toss. Sanju Samson won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. Kohli and du Plessis came out to bat.

RCB defeated RR by seven runs in IPL 2023

But, Trent Boult came up with a fantastic in-swinger as Kohli went back on a golden duck. After that, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis stitched a partnership of 127 runs for the third wicket. Du Plessis scored another fifty as he scored 62 runs off 39 balls, including eight fours and two sixes. Maxwell scored 77 runs off 44 balls, including six fours and four sixes. After them, no other batters managed to hit quick runs as they failed to cross the 200-run mark despite having a solid platform until 15 overs. RCB scored 189 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. For RR, Boult and Sandeep Sharma took two wickets each.

While both Ashwin and Chahal picked up one wicket each. Then, for the chase, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out. But, Buttler scored a two-ball duck only as Mohammed Siraj disturbed his furniture with a vicious in-swinger. Then, Jaiswal scored 47 runs off 37 balls and Devdutt Padikkal scored 52 runs off 34 balls. Both of them put up a 98-run partnership for the second wicket. Thus, after 15 overs, RR reached 121 runs for three wickets. But, they failed to chase down the target as RR scored 182 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Thus, RCB won the match by seven runs.
