England will begin their upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup campaign on 5 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad against New Zealand. They will look to defend the title they won back in 2019 after defeating the Kiwis. Jofra Archer was a part of that team but currently, he is yet to get fit from the ongoing elbow injury.

But, he is all set to travel to India alongside the whole squad as his rehabilitation will continue. The England national selector Luke Wright said: "Jofra Archer will be travelling with the squad to India. He is one of the reserves but we also need to look after him, focus on his rehab." After such an update, fans shared their views on social media.

Jofra Archer last played an ODI in March 2023

Archer was a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2023. But, after playing just five matches, he returned to the UK. The England Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement that reads: "Archer has been recovering from right elbow surgery. However, pushing through the discomfort whilst recently playing, hoping it will settle, has proven challenging. Therefore, it has been agreed for him to return to the UK for a period of rest and rehabilitation to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery." In those games, he took just two wickets.

Speaking about his ODI career so far, Archer has played 21 matches and taken 42 wickets, at a strike rate of 27.1. In the 2019 ODI World Cup, he took 20 wickets in 11 innings, at an average of 23.05. He was the third-highest wicket-taker. After opting out of the IPL, he has not played any competitive cricket so far. So, it will be interesting to see how his rehabilitation continues and if he manages to make a comeback at least in the later stage of the upcoming World Cup. On 17 September, ECB confirmed the 15 players who are set to visit India for the World Cup.
